Releasing of emissions from
paintshop H2 – stack (2006)
Environmental protection is an important part of the activities of joint stock company VOLKSWAGEN SLOVAKIA, a.s. No new production line or piece of equipment can be set into operation without the maximum amount of protection for the environment having been ensured. Installation of new technologies is always preceded by approval of operations in accordance with the valid legislation, whereas preference is given to the best available technologies (so-called BAT technologies).
A dedicated division, which coordinates activities in the field of atmospheric protection, water protection and waste management, is responsible for ensuring environmental protection. All employees are however involved – from the employees in the planning department right through to workers in manufacturing and non-manufacturing plants. Employees are determined in individual plants who are entrusted with environmental protection and who deal with environmental protection matters in the division in question.

Atmospheric protection focuses on lowering emissions into the atmosphere, by giving preference to coating materials with a low pollutant content or by use of effective separation equipment. Waste water from plants is cleaned before being released into the water courses at neutralisation stations and central waste water treatment plants. The emphasis is placed on adherence to the permitted values of pollutants released in terms of emissions into the atmosphere, as well as when releasing waste water. Our priority in the field of waste management is giving preference to exploitation (recycling) over disposal (land filling) of waste and of course we also practice thorough separation of waste according to type in all of our plants. VOLKSWAGEN SLOVAKIA, a.s. pays a great deal of attention to decreasing consumption of energy, materials and raw materials, which also represents a significant contribution towards improvement of environmental management within the company.
